Young Designers Collection 2026: Pikoko (Black / Emerald)

The PIKOKO blanket draws its name and inspiration from the peacock (pikoko in Sesotho), a bird admired for its beauty, grace, and symbolic meaning. Its vibrant plumage represents pride, dignity, and a celebration of life—values deeply rooted in Basotho culture.

This design brings together the elegance of the peacock and the heritage of the Basotho people, creating a blanket that is both a visual statement and a symbol of identity. The pattern features bold, stylized forms inspired by the peacock’s tail feathers, with circular “eye” motifs arranged in balanced symmetry to represent awareness and wisdom. These are framed by traditional Basotho blanket elements, blending contemporary design with cultural tradition. 

Inspired by the strength and beauty of Lesotho’s mountains, the design reflects a balance between resilience and elegance, tradition and modern expression. PIKOKO is a tribute to cultural heritage and natural inspiration, created to evoke a sense of pride, connection, and joy while honouring the past and inspiring the future of Basotho design.

Fabric: 50% Wool 50% Acrylic

Care: The best way to wash is to hand wash with coarse salt (the salt removes the dirt and keeps the fabric soft). However, it can be washed in the washing machine at a cool temperature - do not exceed 30 degrees Celsius.
