The Umbhalo heritage blanket with its striking colourful stripes, is used by the Ndebele tribe. It is only worn by married women. Beadwork is often added to these blankets and they are worn during traditional ceremonies. Once the full beadwork has been applied the blanket can weigh as much as 25 kilograms!
